The Off-grid Energy Handbook
By: Alan Bridgewater
With everyone jumping on the green and self-help horse-drawn bandwagon, there's a lot of chaff to be sorted out. Fortunately, this book is a golden grain of wheat. It's concise, if slightly repetitious in places, and introduced me to several technologies and ideas I didn't know about. I only have one gripe and that is with the Wind Power section of the book. As with so many things written about small scale wind turbines, I'm afraid this book not only fails to properly take into account the ongoing costs and other aspects of domestic/small-scale wind, but there are also a couple of factual errors, one with kiloWatts written instead of Watts - only a error of magnitude 1000! Then the wind turbine doesn't look quite so good. This is the only reason the book loses a star.
APART from that small section , the rest is really good, well illustrated and inspiring. - Amazon reviewer.

Renewable Energy
By: Godfrey Boyle
This book looks at the energy needs on local, national and international scale, not on an individual scale. Each chapter also has a large list of references for further information. The book won't tell you how to fit a solar panel or a wind turbine on your roof nor how to connect your panels to the battery but it will tell you about various renewable energy sources and its pros and cons.
