Easy Jams Chutneys and Preserves

We show you how easy it is to make your own jams, jellies, marmalades, chutneys, pickles, fruit butters and cheeses.
If you grow your own fruit and veg this is an ideal way to use the surplus. You can make the most of delicious food for free – even in towns, fruits like blackberries can be found growing plentifully.
We’ve been making our own jams and preserves for 30 years and this is how we do it. There are traditional favourites like Old English Marmalade as well as more unusual treats such as peach conserve with brandy.
It would have been easy to have just written a recipe book but our aim was to show you how to go beyond just following recipes and create your own unique preserves.
We included our cheats and tips what to do when things go wrong like the jam not setting or fruit floating to the top of the jar in jams like strawberry. Things do go wrong but you can often put them right or avoid them next time.
What Readers Say About Easy Jams, Chutneys & Preserves
“A very easy to read book with loads of help, advice, recipes and what to do when you get it wrong. Would highly recommend to those thinking of how to deal with the glut of food in the fridge and freezer post harvest. “
Chicken Girl
“If it’s your first foray into jams, preserves or chutneys, this is the ideal book to use.
It’s informative and the recipes are very easy to follow.
I now have several shelves of jams and chutneys, made from homegrown produce so I’ll be enjoying them until it’s time to make some more.”
Mrs P Geist
“I’m not much of a chutney maker usually but I’ve had to rearrange my kitchen cupboards to store all the stuff I’ve made from this book. Good, clear instructions and quite a range of things to try. A godsend in the middle of an allotment marrow and tomato glut. It would make a great present too – as do the jars of chutney! I might branch out into jam soon.”
Am Hill
“I am more of a chutney maker than jam producer and still find this book is at my hand all the time. All the recipes I have tried have been delicious …
Bought chutneys are often too vinegary or too expensive.
I was so afraid my copy would get splattered or go out of print that I sent for a second.
It fulfils that seasonal desire to stock the cupboard before winter and the results have transformed lunches and cold meat dishes. Give it a go and get hooked!”
